Understanding Blackheads..

People often want to know how to get rid of blackheads quickly.  This question is misplaced.  The emphasis on “quickly” will cause people to seek quick fix treatments and creams.  Nothing wrong with that except that the problem will return as soon as your treatment runs its course.

The real key to removing blackheads is to deal with the problem at the root.  Often times the root of the problem is self care.  Or, more precisely, a lack of proper self care.

Let’s take diet for example.  Are you consuming lots of sweets?  I’ll bet you are.  The first tip for removing blackheads is to stop eating sweets.  Within days you will see an improvement in your skin.

Next is water.  Your body needs plenty of water so that it can function properly.  Most experts recommend eight glasses per day.  How many glasses of water per day are you drinking these days?  If it’s less than eight, you need to increase it.

Okay, next up is exercise.  Your body can’t function properly without enough exercise.  Exercise causes you to sweat and sweat cleans your pores.  The result is that your skin will look better because it’s cleaner.  Your acne will improve and your blackheads will diminish significantly.

After you have improved your diet, are drinking enough water and getting enough exercise, then and only then would I consider investing in creams and treatments.  See what you can accomplish naturally before spending money on treatments.

If, after taking the natural route as described here, your blackheads are still out of control, I would go see a dermatologist.  A dermatologist will be able to make sure there are not other health related factors keeping you from cleaner skin.  A dermatologist will also be able to recommend a treatment that is specifically designed to for you and your situation.

One of the first things a dermatologist will ask you is about your diet, water consumption and exercise.  If you take the advice offered above, you will be able to smile and tell the dermatologist that you are doing well on all three counts.

In summary, don’t focus so much on looking for a “quick” fix, instead go the natural route first.  If that does not work, go see a dermatologist.

Women’s Fashion – How to Stay in Style For Less

Here are five great ways to spruce up your wardrobe without spending a lot of money.
Most women have noticed that times are tough and there is less money to go around. It is easy to get stressed when funds are low and it can be especially depressing when you grow tired of your wardrobe but have no means of purchasing a fresh look. But don’t despair; there are still ways to keep you looking good without emptying your wallet.

Check out the following ideas for staying fashionable for less:

1. Go through your closet
Like most women, you probably have clothes you don’t wear often and have even forgotten about. Well now is the time to do an inventory check of your wardrobe.

Most likely you will find forgotten treasures that will feel like new clothes again. Also, be creative and try to make your old clothes work in new ways. For example, add belt to that old black dress you found and you will have created a whole new outfit.

2. Shop second hand
Your local thrift store may become your favorite shopping spot. There are many great women’s fashions hidden in the racks at thrift stores. You are sure to find many gently used clothes that usually cost less than ten or even five dollars.

After a careful search through the racks, you may walk out of a consignment store with a pile of new-to-you clothes for the same price that would only buy you one blouse from a department store. And don’t worry; no one will know they are used if you don’t tell them.

3. Throw a clothing exchange party
Throw a little party and invite some of your closest girlfriends with the charge to bring their old clothes they are tired of. At the party everyone can trade clothes and go home with different outfits.

This is a great way to freshen up your wardrobe with new clothes because one girl’s trash is another girl’s treasure. You’ll have fun partying with your friends and then you’ll leave with new-to-you fashions that you didn’t even pay a dime for.

4. Stock up on the basics
When buying clothes, make sure that you stock up on the basics, meaning clothes that mix and match nicely and clothes that go well with anything. This means that instead of buying a cool but loud patterned blouse you would be better off buying a less crazy top that works well with more bottoms and most accessories.

Another example includes buying neutral shoes instead of the bright red pumps that only match one dress. Your wardrobe may not be as exciting and unique, but your wallet will be fuller and you will have less stress during these economically hard times.

5. Get creative and crafty
When you don’t have the money to buy loads of new clothes, sometimes your only option is to get creative. Try things that you have never done before. Find some new funky buttons at your local craft store and sew them onto an old sweater to create a whole new look.

Try making your own jewelry; you can copy more expensive designs at a fraction of the cost or you can create your own unique pieces. Also ribbon is inexpensive and can be used to spruce up all sorts of outfits as headbands, belts, or whatever. Get in touch with your creative side and you’ll be sure to save money and possibly start a new trend in women’s fashion.

Skin Care

Skin Care : Cleansing
Clean your skin every evening. The skin pores get blocked dut to exposure to air pollutions, wind, sun, air conditioning, dirt and grime from our fingers. After cleansing, using a natural skin toner like rose water.

It is really important to remove stale make-up, perspiration, dirt, dust, excess oil etc. Use a good, natural cleanser that removes only the impurities without stripping the skin of nutrients and moisture.

Wipe your face with a piece of cotton wool dipped in milk (unboiled or not heated). Almond oil is a good cleanser for skin under the eyes.
Remember that over cleansing can harm the skin.

Skin Care : Exfoliating
It is important to help the skin renewal process by removing dead skin cells. Exfoliate at least twice a week to get rid of dead skin cells. Care should be taken if you have broken capillaries/surface veins.

Clay Masks
Clay helps to deep cleanse and draw out impurities and to soften and condition the skin.

Skin Care : Moisturising
Moisturing helps to protect your skin from daily pollutants. Moisturising morning and evening with a natural moisturiser will hydrate, moisturise and protect your skin.

For a moisturizing and nourishing mask, blend a mashed banana with white cosmetic clay and apply.

For normal skin care, mix 1 cup yogurt, 1 tablespoon orange juice and 1 tablespoon lemon juice and apply it on your face. Clean it off after 20 minutes.

For dry skin care, use a mixture of cooked oatmeal and honey; it is a very good moisturizer and cleansing agent.

Body Care

Hands Care: Mash a banana with some butter and rub on your hands. Before Shower:Body brushing helps exfoliate, tone and stimulate the skin as well as helping the natural drainage of our lymph glands. Dry body brushing before a shower with a natural bristle brush. Always brush upwards to the heart in quick, rhythmic strokes and brush down to the heart when you reach the shoulder/neck area.

For Lips Care: In the evening, before going to bed, after washing your face and lips, rub your lips with a soft towel to remove the dead cells. Then apply a few drops of pure almond oil on them and leave it overnight. The lips will become soft and become light in color if dark over a period of time.

After Shower: Apply body lotion. Water is a natural hydration for the skin.

Sweating and Makeup!

It’s happened to you many times. About halfway through a long, hot day, your makeup starts to melt off. It becomes runny and looks like a complete mess instead of the pulled-together look that you left the house with. Just a little bit of sweat can ruin all of your makeup preparation. There is a way to keep your makeup looking fresh and new, besides hiding in air conditioning all day. Follow these easy steps to make your makeup sweat proof, and enjoy your day outdoors.

Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 container face moisturizer
  • 1 hair dryer
  • 1 tube waterproof mascara
  • 1 container loose face powder
  • 1 large powder brush

Look Fresh and New All Day

  1. Apply two pumps of moisturizer to your face, including your neck area.
  2. Set your hair dryer to the cool setting. Lightly blow-dry your face to help your moisturizer absorb and set into your skin. You will only need to do this for a couple of seconds.
Apply the rest of your makeup the way that you usually do. Skip your regular mascara for now. You do not need to change the type or how you apply your makeup to make it sweat proof.
  3. Sprinkle some loose face powder onto a tissue. Pick up some of the powder with the large powder brush. Lightly brush this powder over your face to set your makeup.
  4. Use waterproof mascara to finish your look. This type of mascara will stay put as the sweat starts to run into your eyes.

8 Steps To A Perfect Eye Makeup

When evening calls for a glamorous look, you want to focus on making your eyes amazing. Here’s how to apply eye makeup in only 8 steps.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 10 minutes

Here’s How:

  1. Prep your eyes with concealer
Concealer can be used to cover up under eye circles  or just the bluish discoloration just under your inner eye. To cover dark undereye circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until it disappears.
  2. Apply eye base to your lid
eye base  is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. Without properly priming your lid first, your eyeshadow will likely end up a greasy line in your crease.
  3. Follow with eyeliner
Dark eyeshadows work great as eyeliners. Wet a slanted brush, then dip in a dark eyeshadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger. You don’t want a prominent line. For a smokey eye , use a brush to pat in a dark eyeshadow along the upper lid and below the lid. You don’t want a stark line, instead you want to blend it so it’s “smudge-y.”
  4. Apply eyeshadow
It’s great to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow  Allowing them to blend into each other like a rainbow is gorgeous, according to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. Start with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to your browbone. Follow with a medium color across your lid only. Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors well.
  5. Brighten your eyes with a highlighter
This step involves only the inside part of the eye. Putting a bit of your lightest eyeshadow in the inner corner of your eye will brighten it significantly (this is the makeup artist’s secret and I use this trick all the time). I usually dab a finger into my lightest eyeshadow and then I press it into the inner corner of my eye where the upper lid meets the bottom lid. This totally makes eyes “pop.”
  6. Highlight your brow Take the same light eyeshadow and dab it on your browbone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger. I like to use it  just below my brow and just above it, but a super light shadow will do you.
  7. Curl lashes
An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous. For added effect, you can heat the curler under a blowdryer for a couple seconds. Test curler before applying to lashes because you could burn yourself.
  8. Apply mascara
Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Follow with another few sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well.

Gown Preservation Tips

You spent a great time in selecting that perfect dress for your wedding. You may now hope that the beautiful wedding gown be worn by your sister or your daughter on their ‘big day’ or you may want to treasure your wedding gown for sentimental reasons. In both the cases, you need to preserve the dress, in order to retain its beauty for the coming years. Many people do not know how to preserve their precious wedding dress and often end up in either spoiling the color or fabric of the gown or even staining it. If you are also in such a situation, then this article is just for you. Check out the following lines and know how to preserve your wedding dress.
Wedding Gown Preservation Tips
  • People often dispose off their wedding dress bags, thinking that the plastic bag would be of no use in the future. A little known fact is that the bag can be very handy, when you want to preserve your wedding dress for the future. So, make sure to save the bag in which your wedding dress came.
  • In addition to the bag, you will need a clean, white cotton sheet to wrap the wedding gown. Wash the cotton sheet in hot water, before using it for the purpose. Do not use detergent to wash the sheet, because the chemicals might ruin the fabric of the sheet and eventually, your wedding gown.
  • Wrap the wedding gown in the washed and dried cotton sheet and then cover it with the plastic bag. Be careful while wrapping the gown, so as not to result in tearing away of the fabric or the hemming
  • Send your wedding dress for dry cleaning, one or two days after the wedding ceremony is over. Ensure that you send your precious gown to a professional dry cleaner, who specializes in preserving formal gowns. You may get some help from the bridal shop, about a good dry cleaner.
  • Ask the dry cleaner to take care of your dress, during the cleaning process. Alert him about the stains in the gown, if any. If the ornaments in the gown are glued on to it, rather than sewed, do not forget to inform the cleaner about the same. This is very important, because the ornaments often fall off during the cleaning process.
  • Ask your dry cleaner to wrap the wedding dress in a clean, acid-free tissue papers. Be sure to mention that you want the high quality tissue papers to be put in between the folds of the dress, to avoid permanent wrinkles on the dress.
  • Ensure that the dress is stored in an acid-free box, since the chemicals present in the acid can spoil the fabric of the dress. If possible, ask the cleaner to wrap the dress in an acid-free box, after completing the cleaning process.
  • After you have collected your wedding dress from the dry cleaner, place it in your closet, in a very neat manner. You may hang the wedding dress in a padded hanger, to avoid wrinkles.
  • The wedding dress should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. The temperature of the store room should also be taken care of. This is because the temperature has an indirect effect on the fabric of the dress, after it gets treated with chemicals during the dry clean.
  • Inspect your wedding dress on each anniversary to check whether it is in good condition or not. Make sure that you allow the dress to ‘breathe’ and then store it properly again.
